Sunday, March 29th, 2009

Hmmm… was thinking.. maybe it can be quite cool to have a facebook plugin that allows you to list the singapore movies.. and tag your own personal reviews which will be visible by all your friends too…. :P   They can also …. through that plugin… start dating their facebook pals on movie outings!

Carpooling Concept – Cool

Sunday, March 29th, 2009

Hmmm… I was reading this article when I thought… how cool it would have been if such things were available when I am in my primary school…  I study in a pretty affluent secondary school… Definitely will have a lot of people carpooling.  :P

Reading a book….. online…

Sunday, March 29th, 2009

I was browsing through Denise bookshelf when I picked out a book entitled:  ‘A collection of Essays” by George Orwell.  Well, it has been some time since I read something entirely for leisure..  so I just started flipping through a few pages before I was sort of hooked on to the book.

As it is.. today proved to be a rainly sunday afternoon and the lighting was not exactly good enough for reading.  Did a search online of the story and woe:

http://www.orwell.ru

Discovered the entire collection of George Orwell’s stories for everybody to enjoy.  Best thing about reading on an electronic platform, you have a host of other tools like dictionaries and thesaurus at your finger tips.  I just installed a dictionary plugin on my firefox browser and tada….

Hmmm.. surely.. this is the beginning to the end of book…..

E-Coupons

Sunday, March 29th, 2009

e-coupon During my university days, I actually tried to do a start up with 2 other friends I got to know in a technopreneurship class.  Well, those were the times when the dot com boom was still raving… and everybody had a start-up idea somehow.  We too had ours.  We wanted to do a discount site.  A site which will agglomerate all the coupon vouchers of Singapore.   NTUC, Carrefour, etc… always take up half page ads in newspaper to lure customers in with special buys…. but what happens if say.. the customer lost their copy of the newspaper?  Wouldn’t it be nice if they can just go to a e-coupon site to print out the coupon and claim the discounts?  Wouldn’t it be nice… if we can sign up at a site to say what kind of products we frequently purchase and be notified of it once it comes on sale?

E-coupons are coming alive once again in the States… maybe its time to start something similar in Singapore.

Future is in Design and Marketing

Monday, March 23rd, 2009

Was reading an article from Times when the TATA motors mentioned:

The future of the car industry, he says, lies in design and marketing — not manufacturing, which involves high costs and increasingly can be farmed out to other companies.

Think designing is getting to be one of the biggest buzzwords in the business world… It can really make or break a product, i.e. Apple IPod and Creative Zen Players..

Comparison Shopping will never be the same again…

Sunday, March 15th, 2009

Well, this app allows you to very easily torrent out the relevant DVD.  Hmmm… imagine… we can see a book, scan in the isbn.. .and automatically know the prices at Amazon or reserve a book at the library (great idea for Bookjetty right? hope he reads my blog…)

http://blog.wired.com/27bstroke6/2009/03/how-to-get-free.html

But, I guess it is powerful.  Not just prices.. but reviews too.  Looking around for some sausages?  Not sure what people say about it?  Just maybe scan in a product code (does sausages have those???) and then u can get some great reviews….

Actually, Amazon should like immediately start developing some andriod apps for this purpose…

Dieting’s Hierarchy of Pain

Saturday, March 14th, 2009

I exercise daily now.  When Denise suggested that we skip a day of exercise, I nearly freaked out.  Here I was eating loads of apples just to skim off that few calories.. and here she was suggesting skipping a day of exercise.  To me, it was far easier to do the exercise and have some decent calories going into the tummy.  For her, it was otherwise.  I just realised… hmmm.. maybe we have different hierarchies of pain (adopted from Maslow’s hierarchy of need).  Mine should be something like:
